Serious collision in South Tyneside now fatal

A young child seriously injured in a collision with a car in South Tyneside has now died.

The collision happened at Amos Ayre Place in Jarrow at approximately 7.25pm on Friday, May 27.

The four-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle sustaining serious injuries.  She was treated at the scene by ambulance staff and taken to the RVI, but died later that evening.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident.

The child has now been named as Ava Henderson, aged 4, of Inverness Road in Jarrow.
