Warning to cyclists and pedestrians in Hyde Park
Detectives in Westminster are issuing a warning to cyclists and pedestrians after a female cyclist was injured by a rope strung between two trees in Hyde Park.
The woman was cycling through the park at approximately 22:00hrs on Tuesday, 14 June. As she approached an area near to Speakers’ Corner, she felt something hit her across the neck, causing her to gasp for breath.
It is believed the woman was able to maintain her balance at the time, but later noticed she had sustained a rope burn injury to her neck.
The woman reported seeing a group of hooded teenagers nearby who she believes were holding a rope across her path.
No arrests have been made.
Detective Constable Mick Heaney of Westminster CID said: “This is an extremely dangerous and foolish act that could cause serious injuries. We are not aware of any other incidents at this stage but would urge cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution when in the area.”
