Police are appealing for witnesses after a young man was left fighting for his life in a collision in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 15 June).

The 22-year-old was driving a silver Seat Ibiza which collided with concrete fencing on Ashted Circus off Lawley Middleway in Birmingham city bound around 2am.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The road remained closed for several hours while emergency services were at the scene.

Sergeant Steve Newbury, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened and could help us establish the circumstances leading up to the collision which has left a young man with serious injuries in hospital.”

Anyone with information should call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
