Appeal for information following collision between a car and a child in Whitby

North Yorkshire Police were contacted at 6.15pm on Thursday 16 June to reports of a collision on Lockton Road in Whitby between a 2-year-old girl and a black 4×4 vehicle.

The child was taken by ambulance to James Cook Hospital where she currently remains in a critical condition.

An investigation has been launched and Police are appealing to any witnesses in the area around Lockton Road or Fyling Road, or anyone who may have witnessed the child or a black 4×4 car prior to the incident, to contact them.

The child was wearing pink and purple trousers and a white coat with pink and purple flowers and an insect print.

Specially trained officers are currently providing support to the child’s family and officers from Whitby’s Safer Neighbourhood Team will be conducting patrols in the area, gathering information about the incident and providing reassurance to residents.
