Police seeking motorcyclists as potential witnesses to a rape – Reading
Officers investigating a rape in Reading earlier this week are seeking motorcyclists who may have information about the crime.
At around 2am on Wednesday (3/8) the victim, a woman in her forties, was outside the Mansion House in Liebenrood Road when she was attacked by two men, one of whom raped her.
It is believed the offenders were disturbed by the noise of people on mopeds or motorbikes in the park nearby. The offenders then left the victim and made off on foot towards Prospect Park.
Det Inspector Dave Turton of Reading CID said: “This attack has understandably left the victim traumatised and we are doing all we can to bring the offenders to justice. To that end we are particularly keen to speak to any moped or motorcycle riders who were in the park at that time. While riding motorbikes or mopeds is not strictly allowed in the park itself, we are only interested in what these riders may have seen or heard in relation to the attack.
“Fortunately crimes such as this are very rare in the area but if anyone has any concerns or information about this incident we would ask them to call us on 101.
“We would urge anyone who was in the area in the early hours of Wednesday morning and heard a woman in distress or saw two men running in the park area to contact us a matter of urgency on our non-emergency number 101.”
