With the start of a new school year just around the corner we would like to remind people to drive and park safely, legally and considerately when dropping off and picking up their children from school.
We know the school run can be a stressful time, but we’re asking parents and carers to not block driveways or roads, on double yellows and zigzags or cause an obstruction.
Every year we are told by local residents in North Somerset that the start of a new school year brings with it parking problems, with parents hurriedly parking badly during pick-up and drop-off times.
To help combat this, as term starts next week, our local beat officers will be outside schools in Nailsea and North Somerset educating parents, pointing out any offenses or problems. We will also be giving people a polite warning that following this we will need to begin enforcement; issuing tickets or reporting people offences such as stopping on double yellows or zigzags, causing parking obstructions and inconsiderate parking.
