Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road collision in Shirebrook last night.

At about 4.50pm yesterday (Wednesday December 14) an eight-year-old girl was in collision with a white car on Church Drive in the town.

The girl, who lives locally, is currently being treated in hospital in Sheffield for head injuries.

The driver wasn’t injured.

Sergeant Donna Tovell, who is investigating the incident, is appealing for witnesses. She would particularly like to speak to the driver of another car that was travelling along the road at the time of the collision.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information about the collision can ring Sgt Tovell on 101, quoting incident number 1000 of December 14 or send her a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our police website here.
