West Mercia Police is continuing to re-appeal for witnesses following a collision in Stourport last week in which a pedestrian sadly later died.

The collision happened at about 4.20pm last Tuesday (6 December), near to traffic lights on Worcester Street. It involved a pedestrian and a silver Vauxhall Zafira.

Steven Jones, aged 51, was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died yesterday (14 December).

Steven, who was from Highley, was a father of four and a grandfather of one.

PC Mark Bullingham from West Mercia Police said: “Our thoughts are with Steven’s family at this very difficult time.

“We would continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision and who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward.”

Officers would also like to speak to the occupants of a small transvit van and the occupants of a small light-coloured car, who may be able to assist with enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 503S of 6 December.

*A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail until 23 January.
