Man charged following death of pedestrian on Belgrave Middleway
Police have today charged a suspect in the investigation into the death of Dil Bahadur Subedi.
Mr Subedi was crossing Belgrave Middleway just after 11:30pm on Sunday 26 March when he was hit by a green Ford Mondeo, which failed to stop at the scene.
Dil Bahadur Subedi was treated by the ambulance service but despite their best efforts they could do nothing to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following enquiries, Connor McCaugherty, of no fixed abode was arrested on Friday 31 March.
Today, (2 April) he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.
The 22-year-old was remanded in police custody and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates court on Monday 3 April.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “While this is a significant development in the investigation, it is far from complete and I would urge anyone who has not yet spoken to us who can offer information regarding the collision to contact us.”
